West part of SW Houston. Along Bellaire business corridor from S Gessner to W Sam Houston Parkway S (Beltway 8)
AREA:
Approximate 900 acres of commercial and multi-family properties. East to S. Gessner, West to Beltway 8, North to Harwin, and South to Beechnut. It is within District F of City of Houston, Sharpstown TIRZ #20 ( SW Houston Redevelopment Authority), Sharpstown Improvement District and Sharpstown Management District.

HISTORY:
Starting in 1983, Diho Asian Market opened at 9280 Bellaire Blvd., Houston, TX 77036. Chinese-American business migrated here from Downtown Old Chinatown.
ECONOMY:
- There are nine (9) Chinese American Ownership Banks plus Five (5) Mainstream Banks at or around the intersection of Bellaire Blvd. and Corporate Dr., the highest density of banks in Houston. The total assets of the nine (9) Chinese American Ownership banks are close to $19,000,000,000
- There are over 200 Chinese American Ownership commercial properties to be accessed by Harris County Appraisal District around $150,000,000 in the area
- By 2009, there will be over 2,000,000 square feet of NEW construction being completed with an estimated increased value of $400,000,000 in the area
- There are four (4) Chinese/ Taiwanese community centers of 100,000+ square feet in total, eight (8) major Temples/ Churches, over fifteen (15) Chinese newspaper, three (3) Chinese radio stations to serve the community
- Over 2,000 Chinese American owned business in the area including 400 retail stores featuring at least 150 Asian restaurants
